A short guide of the life in Paris
Transportation
Paris, with its extensive network of wide avenues, would be perfect for cars... if there were not so many of them! Parking can also be a big problem and whenever you get it solved, the solution doesn't go without a price. Don't hesitate to take the metro (subway). It allows you to go just anywhere inside the city and even outside the city and offers many options for transfers between no less than 14 lines with just one ticket. Just keep an eye on your personal belongings and exercise caution at night.
The metro includes a few elevated lines and is connected to the Regional Express Train (RER) network going to the far suburbs. Buses are numerous and frequent, but more useful for sightseeing than to make a business appointment. Taxis are not cheap but, due to strict regulations, fares are pretty clear (posted inside) and consistent.
